A suspect who seriously injured a woman Thursday escaped from a Crystal Lake home after barricading himself inside, Clark County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Jeffrey Meyer said.

The standoff ended Thursday night after at least a few hours at a home in the 100 block of North Park Drive.

A large number of deputies responded in an attempt to apprehend the suspect who was armed during a domestic violence assault that happened earlier in the day, Meyer said. The woman injured suffered serious injuries but was treated and released from a local hospital.

“He would not answer the door and subsequently barricaded the doors to the residence and would not answer,” he said.

Deputies were not able to take the man into custody.

“Sometime between the time we got here and had a perimeter set up he must have escaped from the residence somehow,” Meyer said.

He asked that if anyone knows the whereabouts of the suspect he identified as Jonathan Ramirez to call the sheriff’s office at 937-328-2560.
